Covid-19 In Africa is a non-profit organisation that functions to provide the continent of Africa with all the required facts and information regarding covid-19 and the rolling out of vaccines. The virus known as covid-19 took the world by storm last year (2020) when it hit majority of countries all over the world. With the virus lasting for over a year and still developing, it was about time that a vaccine was made and when it was finally made not everyone welcomed it with open arms.

When it was announced that the development of the covid-19 vaccines was complete and that it was ready to be distributed, people began to spread all sorts of conspiracy theories and misinformation regarding these vaccines. There are many different conspiracy theories that are still being spread currently by the publics and this may be because there is not enough information given by the government about the vaccines. One of the most common conspiracy theory that is being spread in Africa is that Bill Gates is using the vaccine to kill Africans by inserting a microchip inside the vaccine in order to reduce the population in Africa. This conspiracy is one that has been spread throughout the whole continent and even the world and to this day it has not been proven to be true. The conspiracy theory about Bill Gates trying to use vaccines to depopulate Africa and control it can be proven not to be true because if that was the case then America would have not been one of the first countries to start rolling out the vaccines. Therefore, it shows that the conspiracy theory about Bill Gates and the vaccines is not in any way true. Another common claim is that Western countries are using the vaccines to wipe out the people of Africa in order to control the continents natural resources. This theory could not possibly be true because all the vaccines that are being distributed have been tested by both western and African countries. Another important fact is that vaccines were not developed with any technology that is able to alter the DNA of people as well as enable microchip tracking. Vaccines have been existing for decades and have helped the world overcome many other viruses and pandemics throughout the past years. The covid-19 vaccine is not the first vaccine to be made and people should start to realize that.

Many vaccines have contributed to saving millions of lives and have helped to wipe out many diseases such as measles and therefore, it would not make sense for the vaccines to now be used as a weapon to eliminate Africans. The spreading of all these conspiracy theories and misinformation have contributed to the fear of vaccines in Africa and because of these conspiracy theories some people have chosen not to get the vaccine. It is advisable by Covid-19 In Africa for people people to do the correct and necessary research on vaccines before starting to spread misinformation and before deciding if they should get vaccinated or not. It is also important that people work hand in hand with Covid-19 In Africa to educate one another on social media seeing that social media is the biggest spreader of misinformation.
